Patience?

Every little test and trial in our lives tests our patience. Mine is being tested today waiting on the new computer that is to be delivered at some point today! Some time today! Not before noon, as it's almost 1:45 now. Davy Jones has passed away...sad. He was a childhood crush, as many boys were at the time! I went thru a crush on all those Monkees...lol So, my patience is taking a back seat to the sadness I feel for Davy's family and friends. RIP Davy, you will be missed!

Needless to say, I am thrilled to have you all join me on my clay and life quest, hope to bring you a grin now and then and maybe something to touch your heart on occasion. Thank you, sincerely from the bottom of my little pea pickin' heart! Marti C.

More Extruded Beads

Just going nuts here with my polymer extruder and the cookie gun extruder!

Please let me hear from some of you jewelry makers...would you consider connectors like these, or am I just wasting my clay and time?  If you are not interested or don't think you'd be, I'm going to try them anyway to see what I can come up with.

Let me know what you think...as you can see, this is just the first step, these are in the greenware stage at this point, not even dry yet, so I have to do more in case of cracking and so forth.

Looking forward to hearing from you!   Thanks and take care!

Cookie Extruder/Gun

It's funny what comes to mind when you want to try something new.  I have a collection of junk that would blow your mind, not exactly a hoarder, but I love stuff and have it everywhere!  Especially old kitchen goodies.  Thus the cookie gun that was very popular to make homemade cookies with in the past...remember?  Anyway, since I don't cook that much and don't need to make cookies for sure, I used my cookie extruder/gun on some clay last night again and here is what I came up with...

I got the clay ready and it was nice and soft to begin with, so I extruded some strips of clay that look like the old Spritz cookies, cut it up into about one inch pieces and rolled those pieces around a paintbrush and fiddled with the ends a bit and tada--
some pretty cool looking beads!

They are dry this morning and did not crack at the edges, they look pretty good, so in a few days I will wet sand, glaze and fire them.  I am excited about these and will try the cookie extruder/gun again...maybe today!

thanks for stopping by, take care

New Cuff Set

I added this new cuff set to my Etsy shop this morning.  The vine impression is one of my favorites as well as the clay and glaze.

I need to change the background as the couch looks too similar, but the natural sunlight is just about right in the window there.

There are a couple of county fairs this year that I'm planning on going to, so I need to get busy and get some new things made.  Summer will be here before we know it as it's almost the end of February!

Thanks for stopping by, take care.

Millie Day

Well, after the surprise birthday weekend we had for Ol' Hun, we are back in our little rut and glad of it.  It was a great weekend with family in from Texas and Ohio!

But today, it's been a Millie day, she was off to the doggie spa for a bath and nail trim.  Doesn't she look great...I love her so!

Millie is a rescued full blooded Japanese Chin that was a breeder from a puppy mill.  Do I have to tell you how much I hate the thoughts of it...  Please, please, please, spay and neuter your pets and adopt, don't shop!  You can find any breed of just about any animal you want if you look around online and be patient and adopt the special little furry love of your life!  It has become a mission for me and I wish I could close down every puppy mill in place!

Small Family Surprise Party!

My husband turns 75 next week and I'm turning 56 on the 28th of this month.  His daughter has turned the very small surprise birthday party into a success and I kept it a surprise!  His son and daughter in law from Katy, Texas got to come up for a visit.  Our daughter in law has never been to WV before, so I'm anxious to see what she thinks...LOL.  It was a real treat with nieces and nephews, great nieces and brother and other family and friends.  It was a nice time!

Cookie Dough Extruder

I made some star shaped beads today using an old cookie dough extruder I bought at a yard sale years ago...pic to come!

Mind you, these are still in the greenware stage before they have been wet sanded, so they look rough right now.  Let me know what you think!

Ceramic Bead Artists

When I first saw some of Marsha's clay pieces, I thought I might as well quit working in clay.  Marsha and others on the link below are artists in clay and some of the work they do is just out of this world.

I am happy to just be in the company of such wonderful artists and I'm not fooling myself, I know that my work isn't anything close to theirs, but I'm glad they let me in their circle.

Numbers

Numbers...encouraging, discouraging...numbers!  I was never good with numbers, but was pleased to make 150 sales on Etsy today.  Not too bad considering the last year I've been more serious, but have been a member for a while.
And would you look at the numbers of views on this little blog?  It's amazing to me that that many people would come by, see and maybe read what's here.
I am still waiting for 20 members to have a good giveaway!  Tell your friends!  I like watching these numbers grow!

Considering...

We are considering getting me a new computer...why I don't know exactly, because if I get my old one worked on, it should be fine, right? But a new computer sounds like so much fun...and the choices are almost like considering a new car...too many choices! We are so blessed. My choices are a Mac Air or Mac mini, either I would be happy with, I'm sure. As I get older choices are harder to make and I don't like that. I remember my mom asking for others opinions and that drove me crazy and now, I'm the same way! I have an awful time making up my mind about anything! I'm glad they don't ask what color I'd want, that would be another big decision! Anyone have a suggestion?

Watch Bits and Pieces

On a girls day out last week I found some old watch parts that I have just fell in love with!  I put one up on Etsy, but I almost hope I can keep them all!  I made a pair of earrings for me out of some small ones and want to use one for a pendant.  I have to make impressions in clay to keep the look alive and going.  Junk--just what I needed was more junk!  But they are so fantastic, and they still have some little wheels that move...sorry, I don't know what the name for all those little bits are.

Busy with housework today and if you've read my blog, that is not my favorite thing to do!  But some must be done and I'm about the only one around here that will...so it goes.

Horse Pendant

The busier I get with my clay, the more fun I'm having!  I am so grateful!  Here is a pendant I loaded in the store today.  I love horses and this one reminds me very much of a horse I raised years ago.  He was a full blooded Arabian.

His name was Ali Rafshan and he was a wonderful experience!  When I was a little girl I dreamed of owning a horse like him...he was a dream come true!

Girls Day Out!

My button buddy and I took a girls day off and we went to the big city and had a really good time.  I came home with a bag of junk that I can't wait to put to use- somehow-in some jewelry pieces this year!

We ate Chinese, got out of the way of a little old lady driving up the wrong way on the road...we had three lanes of cars coming right at us...I'm thankful to the Lord that I was able to get out of her merry way as she flew right by us in a world all her own!
Lord, I pray that little old lady made her way home without killing herself or anyone else, and I pray her family will TAKE AWAY THE KEYS TO HER CAR!!!

Did I mention I found some buttons and a great pile of junk?  It was a good girls day out!

My Little Computer

Well! What a discouraging day I've had. I poured over hundreds of pictures and items...do I keep them, do I let them go into cyberspace never to be seen again...all that agony so I can run the recovery disk in my computer, only to have my computer laugh in my face by not even running its own recovery disks! So, now what do I do? I'm thinking I'm going to get the last laugh and just replace that hateful thing...hahahaaaaa! Thank goodness for this little iPad! I really dont have any problems worth worrying about, but thanks for letting me vent about the computer. I really liked it until today!
