Painting the Bathroom

Haven't been muddy for a week now and not sure how much longer its going to be before I can get that way again.  Was hopeful we had a couple to paint our bath/laundry room, but they backed out, so guess what we're doing this week?  Painting our bathroom...yuck!  It is actually turning out a nice, bright white and I want to add some orange somewhere.  Not sure where yet, but the purple has got to go and I think I want orange for a while.
Many years ago I found some delicious flowered fabric with a black background and a wonderful purple, so I managed to talk hubby into a purple wall in our bathroom, which is my favorite color.  So the flowered material was the curtain, shower curtain, you get the idea, but it has to go.  I'm going for seashells and orange...will let you know how it goes!

Considering New Kiln

Plans are in the making for me to purchase a new kiln.  A very small one compared to my old one.  Which means I could get orders out faster, would have a more reliable machine, small so it won't take up too much space, and affordable.  Why do I have such a hard time making up my mind?
Do you have trouble making up your mind?  Have I asked this question before?  Seems like I have.
Anyway...will give it another day or two.

Here's a quick pic of a bracelet I just made so I can wear it tomorrow.  What do you think? It's not a great pic I know, but to explain, one string is silver chain and glass beads and the other string is just glass beads.

Thanks for any suggestions and for stopping by, take care!

Another Loss

Today I am beyond sad for the Scott family who lost their 29 year old in an auto accident. Saw this young man grow up and I cannot even imagine the pain and heartache his family is going thru today and for the rest of their lives...this is at least the fourth young adult in my circle of friends that has been taken in death before they really had a chance to live and the devastation I feel cannot even compare to his families sadness and despair. I cannot even imagine it... If you pray, please remember the Scott family today...thank you.

Kiln Furniture

Trying to make some kiln furniture today.  So far, so good.  I have got to make myself use every inch of space that I have, I don't want to waste energy and my time.  It takes so long to fill it, tho.  But I'm thinking with the right kiln furniture I know I can get more pieces in...at least that's what I'm hoping.

The weather is supposed to be cold this weekend.  My lilacs have bloomed, but under distress.  They got too cold twice and this weekend will probably finish them off.  They are pretty while they last tho.  White lilac smells so good, reminds me of my Mama's place.

Today is my Mom's birthday.  She would have been 80 in our years, now she is Eternal.  My paternal grandpa would be 113.  My mom was aging so beautifully.  I am a good bit younger than she was when she died and I have way more gray hair and wrinkles...miss you Mom and Papa, love you both...

Hope you have a great weekend!  Stay warm!

New Necklace Set

Well, I got enough encouragement, so I will show the necklace set I made.  These beads are unglazed mixed red and white clay.  Strung on a leather cord with copper wire.  I just finished it, so here it is.  I plan on wearing it a lot.

Remember the Stripes?

Here are a couple of sets of the striped unglazed pieces that I did in this last glaze load.

What do you think?  I rather like them...

Made a Necklace

I worked on making a necklace today.  Not the first time I've tried...I don't know, something is just off.  Or at least I think so.

So tomorrow if I have time, I'm going to try again.  Maybe I'll have something to show you then!

And thanks to my new followers, so happy to have you!  27--yippee!

Happy, Happy!

Very happy with the results from the kiln fire this week.  Took so long to do that many beads, the most yet that I've ever done.  24 sets of 10...to me that is a lot.  Plus other pendants and charms, so I was one busy girl for a bit.

That is: first the making and then the glazing, at least two layers of glaze and some I did different colors on.  Not complaining, just explaining.

Here are a few of them...

I called these first one Moon Craters.  I used my dogs hair brush to roll the bead over.  It gives such a great texture.  The color is a soft aqua.

This second batch wasn't actually glazed, I used two different clays and wedged them together just a bit and then rolled them out into beads.  I love the way they look!

The color on this batch is my favorite on this speckled clay.  It is called dark blue, but I think the clay changes the color of it a good bit.  In the recesses you can see dark blue, but however it happens, I love the end result.

And so far, the best seller!  These knuckle beads are the most time consuming.  After rolling out a ball for the bead, I then manipulate the ball into this pinched shape.  It takes about ten times around to get the right shape, but I really like them.  And next to the green above, this is a terrific color on the speckled clay.

I loaded a few of them at my Etsy store at:  etsy.com/store/MartiC51
More will go up later.

I hope you enjoyed reading about them.

Still Glazing

I feel like I've been neglecting this little blog, but I've been so busy making more beads and glazing that not much else is going on.

Well, I take that back...several things going on, nothing I can change, so on we go.

Glazing, glazing, glazing...

Glazing for hours now, stripes, dots, single color, multiple colors, beads of every description, lots of designs and I'm not finished yet!  Curves, flowers, stripes, the list continues.
Tonight I have a Humane Society meeting to go to.  Tomorrow is a free day as far as I know right now, Thursday is button club...I don't know when I'll get to fire!
And I just realized this morning that I have a few more beads to make...I have to make more knuckles...lots of knuckles!  And that's just fine with me!

thanks for stopping by, take care.

Glazing Today!

Getting out the glazes today.  Have lots of little beads to do and several other small pieces. The mixed clay pieces will be lightly glazed to hopefully enhance the prettiness of the clay blending.  I love the look of it.

I am also joining a blog hop for the first time...exciting for me and scary too!  It's all about color!  And of course I choose purples...
